Check out Housebets' picks of the week, as World Cup playoffs and international friendlies take centre stage this weekend.
Another weekend is here, meaning it is another time for us to give you our predictions for this weekend’s football games around the world.
This weekend is special, as international football is set to dominate the next few days. With about three months left before the World Cup kicks off, the last few spots left will be decided this international break.
Meanwhile, countries that have already qualified have friendlies scheduled this weekend and next week before naming their final squad in May.
You can place your bets on all of these matches at Housebets, and you can also place bets on the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With that said, let us get down to our picks for this week.

Our Pick: England win or Over 2 goals
The Three Lions of England begin their preparations for the World Cup with a friendly match against Uruguay at Wembley Stadium.
England are one of the favourites to win the title in North America, but they always seem to come up short against opponents on their level. However, this match against Uruguay should test the current level of Thomas Tuchel’s men.
While Tuchel has already stated that players like Harry Kane and Declan Rice will not play the game, the Three Lions still possess the quality to trouble Uruguay.
La Celeste are not seen as one of the favourites for this World Cup, even though they are two-time World Champions. Still, Marcelo Bielsa’s men will be a dangerous side in North America and will be eager to show it.
Uruguay might not have the star quality of England, but they have one of the most in-form players in their squad in Federico Valverde.
They have also won two, drawn one and lost one of their last four matches, with the last game ending in a 5-1 defeat to the United States in November 2025.
While it is hard to predict a friendly game, England do have a poor record against South American opposition.
They have only won four (D5, L2) out of their last 11 matches against South American teams. In addition, they have a losing head-to-head record against Uruguay, winning just three to Uruguay’s five.
However, because the Three Lions are at home, we fancy them not to lose, which is why we are going for England to win or over 2 goals.
Our pick: Spain to win or over 2.5 goals
Spain would have preferred to play Argentina in the Finalissima, but that clash was cancelled due to the war in the Middle East.
However, the tests against Serbia and Egypt should give Luis de la Fuente a chance to see the level of his squad going into the World Cup in North America.
Spain are the favourites going into the tournament and will be eager to send a warning to the rest of the world, starting from now.
A Serbian side that missed out on qualification looks like the perfect team to play if they are about making a statement.
Serbia missed out on the playoffs after finishing third in England’s group, one point behind Albania in second place.
Nonetheless, Veljko Paunovic’s side will still want to put on a show against La Roja. The bad news for them, though, is that they lost 3-0 last time they faced the European champions.
Considering their history and the gulf in class between the two sides, this is a straight win for Spain, which is priced at 1.26.
Our Pick: Over 2.5 goals
Two of the most entertaining sides that will play in this year’s World Cup will clash in a friendly match in Amsterdam on Friday night.
The Netherlands take on Norway in a match that will prepare both teams for sterner tests at the World Cup. The Dutch qualified ahead of Poland in their group, while Norway toppled Italy to qualify for their first World Cup since 1998.
Ronald Koeman’s men have been in great form for over a year now. Aside from their penalty shootout in the UEFA Nations League, the Netherlands have not lost a game in over a year.
Meanwhile, Norway were flawless in the qualifiers, winning all eight games, including a double over Italy by a three-goal margin.
While their run was impressive, Norway will want to further test their strength against another formidable side in the Netherlands.
Both teams are known for their attacking prowess, which is why we are backing over 2.5 goals at 1.65.

Our pick: Over 2.5 goals
Another two European nations that have qualified for the World Cup will face each other on Friday night as Switzerland host Germany at St Jakob’s Park.
Switzerland were one of the most impressive teams in the European qualifiers, finishing first in their group without suffering defeat. Only England conceded fewer goals than Murat Yakin’s men in the European qualifiers.
They also have a strong home record at St Jakob’s Park, having gone six games without defeat (W4). However, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 games against Germany.
Germany qualified as the group winners in the qualifiers, but they were far from convincing. Die Mannschaft lost to Slovakia in their opener before salvaging their situation in the rest of the qualifiers.
While they remain one of the favourites for the World Cup, Julian Nagelsmann’s men will need to convince fans with their performances, starting with the game against the Swiss.
However, they failed to beat them in their last three encounters (D3), so they are likely in for a tough match.
This is a game difficult to call, considering there is nothing at stake. However, we fancy goals in this one, which is why we are backing over 2.5 goals
