Check out Housebets' betting guide and preview for the 2026 Men’s and Women’s singles at the French Open (Roland Garros).
The 2026 French Open is upon us, and it promises to live up to expectations in both the men’s and women’s singles sections. Last year’s edition was a cracker, as the two finals were indeed classics.
In the women’s singles final, Coco Gauff defeated Aryna Sabalenka in a three-set epic, while in the men’s singles final, Carlos Alcaraz came back from 5-3 down (0-40) to beat Jannik Sinner in a final that will forever be etched in history.
Fans will be hoping for more of the same this year when the men’s and women’s singles events start on May 24. Also, you can place your bets on all the games in both the singles and doubles events at Housebets.
Housebets remains the home of tennis betting, including the French Open, which kicks off on May 18 with the qualifiers. You can place bets on the men’s and women’s singles winners, even before the first ball is served.

The 2026 French Open is the second Grand Slam of the year, following the Australian Open, and features the world's top tennis players.
Played at the Stade Roland Garros, the French Open is arguably the most difficult of all the Grand Slams due to the demands and energy of the clay surface.

Nonetheless, this year’s tournament is still expected to deliver top-quality tennis. It will not be short of star power, either, in both the men’s and women’s singles.
This year’s event will also be the final French Open for players like Stan Wawrinka and Gael Monfils, who will both retire from professional tennis after this season.
As expected, there will be 127 main draw matches in the men’s and women’s singles sections, with 128 players entering the main draw.
There will be 104 direct entrants, 16 players from the qualifiers, and eight players who have been given wildcards. All these players will compete for the trophy in both the men’s and women’s singles events.
The 2026 French Open starts on May 18 with the qualifiers. The qualifiers will run for the first few days before the main draw starts on May 24. The main draw will run for two weeks, with the women’s singles final on June 6 and the men’s singles final a day later.
This year’s French Open will have no shortage of the biggest names in both the men’s and women’s sections.
Sinner is expected to headline the men’s singles event after defending champion Carlos Alcaraz pulled out due to a wrist injury. The Italian, alongside Novak Djokovic, will headline a strong list of singles that also includes Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Lorenzo Musetti, Ben Shelton, and many others.

On the women’s side, World No. 1 Sabalenka will headline a strong singles list that also includes Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, Victoria Mboko, Jasmine Paolini, and many others.
With Alcaraz out, Sinner is the overwhelming favourite to win this year’s French Open. The World No. 1 suffered a devastating loss in the final last year but has the opportunity to banish that pain.
Sinner is clearly the best player in the world going into this year’s competition, having won all the Masters events so far at the time of writing this report. He is currently on a 30-match winning streak in Masters events at the time of writing this report.
He is currently in the quarter-final of the Rome Masters and is priced at 1.35 to win this year’s French Open. Sinner is ranked ahead of Zverev, who is priced at 8.00 to win his first major at this year’s Roland Garros.
Zverev has had a mixed clay season so far, reaching the final in Madrid and the semi-final in Monte Carlo. However, he lost to Sinner in both tournaments and might have to face him in the final at Roland Garros, considering he will be the second seed.
The German also lost to Luciano Darderi in the round of 16 of the Rome Masters, a result that will not help his confidence going into the French Open.
Nonetheless, Zverev is still the second favourite to win the French Open this year, ahead of Djokovic, who is priced at 11.00.
Djokovic, at the age of 38, has nothing to prove, but he is seeking an unprecedented 25th Grand Slam title. The Serb is a three-time champion in Paris but has only one clay match under his belt, having lost to Dino Prižmić in the Rome Masters.
In the women’s section, Sabalenka, who lost in the final last year, is the favourite to win this year’s event. Like Sinner, the Belarusian has clearly been the best WTA player in the world, even though she lost in the Australian Open final.
She won the Sunshine double (Indian Wells and Miami), although she suffered a shocking loss to Hailey Baptiste in the quarter-final of the Madrid Open. While Sabalenka remains the favourite, her performance on clay this season has been a little underwhelming.
Following her loss in Madrid, Sabalenka also lost in the Rome Masters quarter-final to Sorana Cîrstea. With Sabalenka struggling on clay ahead of the French Open, her rivals will be looking to pounce.
One of them is Iga Swiatek, who is priced at 3.40 to win the title. Swiatek has struggled this year, but she has won four French Open titles and remains a threat every year.
Once a dominant clay-court player, the Polish star has not had success on the surface this year, although she’s currently in the Rome quarter-final at the time of writing this report.
Mira Andreeva and Elena Rybakina are next up after Swiatek, with each player priced at 8.00 to win the title this year. Surprisingly, Gauff, who won the 2025 French Open, is priced at 9.00 to successfully defend her title this year.
Moneyline – This is simply betting on the winner, like in any other sport. However, unlike football (soccer) and a few team sports, tennis has no draw. This option is best for you, especially if you are a beginner.
Overs – As the word implies, 'overs' means the number of games or sets that will be played. Example: You can bet on Over 8.5 games in the first set, meaning at least nine games will be played.
You can also bet on the total number of games. E.g., Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic: Over 27.5 games. You can also bet on overs for individual players. For example, you can bet on Jannik Sinner to win over 18.5 games against Alex de Minaur.
Set Betting: Set betting is when a bettor bets on a player to win a specific number of sets or a particular set. E.g, a bettor could bet on Novak Djokovic to win the first set against Hugo Gaston. Another bettor could bet on Gatston to win a set in the same game.
Meanwhile, you can also predict the correct set score. E.g., if it's a best-of-three sets, you can bet on 2-0 or 2-1. If it's a best-of-five sets, you can bet on 3-0, 3-1, or 3-2.
Handicap: Handicap is not different from what we have in football. It means you are betting on a player's performance based on his quality. E.g, if Sabalenka has been given 1.06 to beat Cristea.
You can give Sabalenka a four-game handicap, meaning you expect Sabalenka to win four more games against Cristea.
It is important to note that the favourites are always given a negative handicap, while the underdogs are given a positive handicap.
Live Betting: Live betting is simply betting on a live tennis match.
Outrights – 'Outrights' is the same as football (Soccer). It simply means betting on who will win the French Open. e.g., With the upcoming French Open, you can bet on Zverev to win the event, even before the draw.
