Check out Housebets’ guide on singles betting and accumulator bets, including the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Knowing which type of bet to place can be difficult, even for professionals with years of betting experience. This is because there are many sports and different markets to choose from, irrespective of the online platform you use.
However, regardless of the sport or market you choose, you can place only two types of bets: singles or accumulators. In this piece, we will explain both types of bets and how you can place them at Housebets.
Remember, Housebets remains the platform to place all bets on your favourite sports and competitions. You can bet on any market, including the moneyline, over-under, and prop bets.
Having said that, let me give you a guide on single betting and accumulators.
A single bet is a bet you place with only one event on your slip, meaning you cannot combine other games or markets.
However, you may choose any market on that single slip. Eg: You can bet on Moneyline, over-under, or Prop bets.
Eg: You can bet on over 2.5 goals as a single bet in Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Burnley.

In this bet, you are placing a bet on at least three goals to be scored in the game, irrespective of the team that scores them.
An accumulator, also known as a 'parlay bet', is a type of bet which has more than one event on a slip. For a bet to be an accumulator, there has to be a minimum of two events on the slip, although there could also be a maximum, depending on the sportsbook.
In an accumulator, you can combine different markets, but not for the same event or game. For example, you can bet on Man City to beat Burnley, Liverpool to beat Crystal Palace and Arsenal to score two goals against Newcastle.
In an accumulator slip, you can also combine different sports on the same slip and different markets. For example, you can combine tennis games, basketball games and football games on a single slip.
For your accumulator to be a winning bet, all your bets on a single slip need to play out exactly the way you selected them.
For example, if you bet on Man City to beat Burnley, Liverpool to beat Crystal Palace and Arsenal to score two goals against Newcastle, all outcomes have to play out the same way you predicted.
In this case, Man City have to beat Burnley, Liverpool have to beat Palace, and Arsenal have to score two goals against Newcastle.
If City beat Burnley and Liverpool beat Palace, but Arsenal fail to score two goals against Newcastle, you will not win the bet even if the Gunners beat the Magpies 1-0.
This rule applies to all accumulator tickets irrespective of the number of games on that single slip.
Calculating your potential win when you play an acca is quite easy. All you need to do is multiply each odd for every single bet and multiply the total by your stake.
For example, if Man City's odds to beat Burnley are 1.14, Liverpool's to beat Palace are 1.47 and Arsenal's to score over 1.5 goals against Newcastle are 1.45, all you need to do is multiply these odds and multiply the total by your stake – $10

In this case, 1.14 X 1.47 X 1.45 = 2.43 X $10 = $24.30.
This means that you will win $24.30 plus a potential bonus if you win the bet.
Advantages of an Accumulator
Higher Returns: An accumulated bet allows a player to earn potentially massive returns with a small stake. Because the odds are multiplied together, it increases the odds value, thereby increasing the potential return.
Flexibility: An Accumulator allows a player to be flexible when making his picks. You can combine different sports and different markets on a single betting slip.
Disadvantages of an Accumulator
High Risk: Given that you need all outcomes to play out, accumulator betting has a higher risk. If one of the picks fails to play out as expected, you will lose the bet.
Unrealistic: Accumulator betting can also make a player unrealistic with his betting goals. While there is no issue in chasing millions, the likelihood of that happening by playing accumulator bets is low.
